Due the terrible ongoing conflict in Ukraine, today we have unreservedly voted to contribute £500 to the Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF) for the Refugees and Displaced Persons fund.

Lions clubs around the world are donating funds to support this special disaster relief fund.

LCIF are working with leadership in each country to develop a project plan for LCIF to support Lion-led distribution of immediate needs. Care packages will include food, water, hygiene items, and clothing. After initial grants, LCIF will continue to work with Lions in the adjacent and surrounding countries to evaluate needs, and the potential for Lions to assist.

Whilst we normally distribute funds raised locally back within the local area, the unprecedented attack on a peaceful country and the huge humanitarian fallout as a result, we felt this was the least that we could do.

At our business meeting last night (14th February 2022), we were really pleased to welcome 2 new members to the club, Laura & Dan, The inauguration was conducted by our 1st Vice District Governor Kav (who had travelled all the way from Letchworth with her husband fellow Lion Paranjit) and was overseen by Lion President Keith and Lion Vice President Wyn as the sponsor – a very warm welcome to them both from all the members.

The Witney Lions Dream Scheme for 2022 was launched on Saturday 22nd January 2022.

Witney Lions would like to thank the folk in Witney and surrounding area for their generous donations during December 2021 when we visited numerous locations in the area with Santa & Rudolph, without them the Dream Scheme would not be taking place, THANK YOU
