A big THANK YOU
We would like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone that came along to see Santa & Rudolph at the 15 locations we visited within Witney and the surrounding area.
😀
Even the very wet cold conditions didn’t dampen our spirits as it was just magical seeing the smiles on all (well nearly all) the children’s faces – it was definitely worth the effort.

We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas & A Happy Healthy 2022.

Dream Scheme UPDATE!

Dream Scheme to return in 2022!

The Witney Lions “Dream Scheme” will run again from next year. Financed by Lions’ fundraising efforts in the community, the Scheme will soon be ready to accept applications for grants from voluntary groups based in or around Witney.

Full details, and how to apply, will appear here in January 2022. Then, after assessment, the successful applicants will be invited to an awards ceremony in April or May. So, be sure to keep an eye on this site for more information!

Message in a Bottle
Topic

Message in a bottle is a simple idea which allows emergency information to be kept in a small plastic bottle which is easily and quickly found by the Emergency Services in an emergency.

The scheme was introduced in 2002 in Oxfordshire on a county-wide basis, and well over 70,000 bottles have been issued since. The idea was then picked up by Lions clubs nationally.

The process is simple:

    • Collect you bottle from your GP, Chemist or request directly from a Lions club
    • Complete the form with the details requested
    • Add a copy of your latest repeat prescription
    • If you have a DNACPR* form, place the tear off slip in the bottle*
    • Place the bottle in your fridge
    • Place one of the sticky labels on the INSIDE of the main door to you premises
    • Place the other sticky label on the door of your fridge
    • Relax!

*DNACPR – Do Not Attempt Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation – a process agreed between you, your family and your doctor where CPR is not appropriate – essential guidance for the Ambulance Service to ensure your wishes are followed.

Message in a Bottle is free to the user and is funded by Lions clubs, where organisations become heavy users of the Bottles ie: NHS, or age related charities then a donation is sought.

For more details, or to request new bottles, please contact us.

Forest Fair update

Forest Fair update

Here are a few shots taken at yesterday’s ‘Wychwood Forest Fair’ event. The weather was kind and, with well over 2,000 visitors estimated, the day was a great success. Lions estimate that in excess of 800 cars were on site at the peak and we thank our team including friends of the club and members relations, for their hard work in keeping the visitor and stallholder traffic well parked and flowing in and out of the site during the day.
